It’s June! And so we get all the game reveals! I love this time of the year, it is like Christmas come early to gamers. This weekend we will see all the cool indie games as well as Triple A games that are slated for release. Xbox is having a showcase on the 11th so mark your calendars. As always, here is my wish-list of what to see. I hope we get less cinematic trailers and more gameplay shown to us. I do get annoyed that they show a cinematic trailer years before they are ready to show the game. This trend needs to stop. Cinematic trailers should be something that goes alongside gameplay of a game—not the thing you lead with. With that out of the way, onto the list!
Fable IV
I should really start copy-pasting this section from every year that I do these articles. I have been wanting to see more from Fable since they announced it with a cinematic trailer in 2020. That feels like a lifetime ago. I really just want to see gameplay. See what the game will look like and get hyped for it. We are in dire need of a new Fable game and I think Xbox is in need of it as well. Though, this time round I can feel it in me bones! I would put my head on a block and say that this year we will see Fable. If not, then I will be the saddest boy ever. But I have a feeling that it will be there!
Avowed
Obsidian’s Avowed is shaping up to be a well rounded RPG made by developers who are good at that sort of thing. We really have nothing else but a cinematic trailer to go off of but I think it is also high time we see this.
Starfield
I know it is coming out soon (I hope) but yeah, I want to see raw gameplay of this game. Not a set piece showcase or something scripted. Bethesda has the stage to themselves after the Xbox showing. I want to see them sit down and play the game in real time. After Arkane’s Redfall, I think this is the least they can do to calm any doubts players may have. You know, I still think the 2015 showcase was Bethesda’s strongest. When they showed Fallout 4 and Fallout Shelter that was used to hype Fallout 4 even more. I hope we get the same strong showing this year round. Bethesda really needs it.
Other than that, I’m mostly going into this showing blind. I am avoiding leaks. I am ignoring the Youtube content creators busy going off about what they suspect. I want to be surprised. So I hope Xbox hits me hard with good reveals and a grand show! (Don’t worry, I can take it!)
