The Sims is a special game for me. It has been a part of my life since I was nine. I grew up playing these games and I’m sure many gamers of my generation did too, especially in regards to The Sims 2.
While The Sims 4 has a lot of issues, I have been enjoying it with mods installed as it spices up the game a bit. The Sims has always had a money making formula that works. You buy the base game and as expansions release; you buy the ones you want. Back in the day, my brother, dad and I played The Sims (though dad just enjoyed building grand houses that were his retirement dream home) so we got the boxsets with all the expansions for Sims 1 & 2 which are still kept safe in a cupboard right next to my writing desk.
I was the only one who dabbled in Sims 3 so I only got a few expansions for that one. While I’m the only one who plays Sims 4, so the expansions are a bit of a stretch for me. I have the Seasons one at least. Now the formula is changing. The base game will be free for everyone, which is by far a better option for both players and EA. Instead of players coughing up for the base game (because Sims is a huge investment) now we can get the base game free and for EA, that will probably be enough incentive for those players to get more packs.
But what about those of us (like me) that already own it? Well, between now and October 17th (the base game goes free on October 18th) we can claim a free kit in the form of the Desert Luxe Kit, which seems to be inspired by the architecture of homes that can be found in Arizona with their brown and orange colours and modern slick styles.
Are you excited to finally try The Sims 4 now that it is going free?
