It’s no secret that Assassin’s Creed is one of my favourite franchises. So you can imagine my excitement during the Assassin’s Creed 15 year anniversary showcase. I knew Assassin’s Creed Mirage was coming as well as a mobile game set in ancient China. I didn’t expect Assassin’s Creed Red and Hexe to be announced as well.
So let’s dive right into it!
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Following a young Basim in Baghdad and this game is forgoing the newer RPG systems and returning to the series’ roots. Though I hope it plays morel like Assassin’s Creed Unity than Assassin’s Creed 1, with some freedom on outfitting the main character. While the entire event showed cinematic trailers only—I was excited to see the settings. And returning to the Middle East during its golden age is something that excites me. The nostalgia will be real when this game drops and I’m all for it!
Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade
I was shocked to see the graphics of this, as this is their mobile game and yet I had a hard time trying to see a difference between the footage they showed and a Xbox One game. It will also be an open world which just blows my mind considering it is a mobile game. Set in ancient China, this is going to tickle the fancy of a lot of players. I will need to upgrade my phone before this drops because if I tried to run this my phone might explode.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Red
Japanese styled buildings basked in the red hue of a setting sun followed by a ninja-like Assassin pouncing on a roof top. Yeah, Japan is going to be a setting for a future Assassin’s Creed game and it will apparently be another RPG instalment.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe
“There’s witches in them daar hills!”
This one has the least information about it other than speculation. Judging from the name, ‘Hexe’ meaning Witch in German, this could be set around The Würzburg Witch Trials of 1625-1631. Apparently this will be a different kind of game so I’m really looking forward to it.
Then there is Assassin’s Creed Infinity which I don’t fully understand but it seems like a launcher for Assassin’s Creed games? We will need to see more in time. What was interesting was the fact that they mentioned a desire to bring back multiplayer so could Hexe be an online game in the same vain as the old cat and mouse PVP modes from the older Assassin’s Creed games? Overall, this is an exciting time for Assassin’s Creed fans!
