It’s 2022! And we’re back at it, talking about games, movies, books/comics, and all those other geeky things. A new year also brings new expectations. The beginning of the year is always slow as people are still processing the last year. But with developers returning to work, we as gamers can begin keeping our eyes peeled for new reveals and leaks.
Here are my gaming wishes for 2022!
Fable IV
I had to include Fable IV on this list. While I don’t expect the game to come out this year, I am hoping to see gameplay of it at least, even if only an alpha, and get new details about it. I’ve been waiting for this game for years after Fable III left me feeling a tad disappointed. I am crossing my fingers for a big grand reveal at E3.
Weird West
Weird West is a western game by Wolfeye Studios that was delayed until 31 March. The game looks like a lot of fun and is on the lips of many due to how special it looks. I’m glad we are getting a weird western game. That genre is so underrated. The game will have five playable characters whose stories will intertwine and will have a stylised art too. It looks so good!
Fortnite’s Chapter 3
Fortnite ended 2021 with a bang – or rather a flip. This will be the first full year of the new chapter and many Fortnite players are keen to see how it goes. So far, it is off to a good start with an upcoming extreme weather event update. Exciting times!
Redfall
Arkane’s vampire hunter game piqued my interest. I don’t know much about the game and I can’t base my opinion on the cinematic trailer shown at E3 but the premise looks cool. We need more vampire games. I suspect we will see a lot more of this game this year.
The Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake
After getting revealed, fans dished out a lot of backlash over the cartoony artstyle of the remake (I personally didn’t mind) but Ubisoft took a step back and delayed the remake of this classic in a move much like the art team behind the Sonic movie. Hopefully, the game will get shown off again and reach new heights after the feedback.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
I never played the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but I was aware of it. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is coming soon and it boasts amazing graphics, a brutal world, and a dark story. I may be new to it but I get hyped whenever this game is mentioned and die hard fans are ecstatic.
Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 looks to take what made the first installment so good and dial it all up a notch with actual narrative changing choices, a more vibrant open world and smoother parkour. And, of course, more guts and gore for everyone!
These are some of the games on my radar this year.
What are you looking forward to?
