A Look At S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2

Will you be returning to The Zone?

I only played the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game briefly. I was more interested in Assassin’s Creed at the time. Though, I’ve always been aware of the cult following the game has. I also know the title was inspired by a film of the same name, which itself was loosely inspired by a novella called Roadside Picnic.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl takes place around Chernobyl after a second nuclear disaster where some weird and wonderfully scary anomalies are taking place. It looks really good with a dark and dreary tone. One scene I was really taken by was the encounter with the anomaly. I have so many questions.

What other anomalies are there? What was with that weird monster? I can see why people say S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is like Metro 2033’s father.

What surprised me the most about the trailer was the fact that the characters spoke Russian. That really stuck out because it makes sense given the location of the game. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 looks like it will deliver a beautiful world to explore, scary monsters to avoid or kill, some heavy moral decisions, and an immersive experience to sink my grimy fingers into.

The game is slated for an April 2022 release and will be an Xbox and PC exclusive. However, as we have seen with games in recent years, delays are common. So, I wouldn’t bank on that release date. Are you excited for your return to The Zone? Or, will this be your first foray into the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.?
