The little easter eggs that everyone (including myself) noticed at the start of this Fortnite season have finally paid off. The Predator is the secret skin in this season’s battle pass.
But another 80s franchise has entered the Fortnite world: Sarah Conner and the infamous T-800 (skeleton version, maybe old Arnie’s likeness was too expensive?).
This season of Fortnite has been their best season to date and I’ve been fully engrossed with what has been going on. So bear with me while I rattle off what’s been happening in the world of Fortnite.
The Terminator
I’ll start with The Terminator item shop bundle. The bundle consists of Sarah Conner who comes with two styles. She also has T-800’s severed hand as her backbling (and yes, it twitches) and a combat knife as her harvesting tool.
The bundle also consists of the ominous skeletal version of The T-800 with a bulky chrome looking backbling, a dangerous looking Terminator-themed pickaxe, and an emote that surprisingly isn’t a built-in emote for the character.
The emote mimics the iconic thumbs up T-800 gives John Connor while melting in lava in the film. Here is the quirky Fortnite Terminator trailer:
The Predator
So, the Predator is the secret skin. Players had to investigate his pod and talk to NPCs in the area to unlock the first two rewards on the list, which were just an icon and spray.
The next mission was to find and eliminate The Predator and this was really hard, not so much because The Predator was so strong but more so because of every player trying to take him out.
It was insane the first two days. But after the third day, I tried to hunt The Predator again and found hardly any players sulking around the Stealthy Stronghold POI.
Hunting him was fun as he was invisible with only the noises he makes acting as an indication of where he could be until the hum of his invisibility device grew louder.
He charges up to players with a terrifying scream, slices them with his blades. After taking some damage, he pounces back into the jungle to blend in again.
It was a lot of fun to get him and what was even more entertaining was the extra missions that allowed us to unlock:
- his blades as a harvesting tool,
- a skin for weapons,
- a monster’s skull as a backbling, and
- a built in emote that allows Predator to remove his mask with a roar.
This season has one more month left and it will be interesting to see what Fortnite does next. I always say, “I’m not sure how they will top this,” but somehow they always do.
