I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; I like weird movies. Movies that aren’t considered very good with cheap special effects and mostly unknown actors or the typical B-Movie actors.
I had heard of Tales from The Crypt before, but never really knew what it was. So, when I came across Tales from The Crypt: Bordello of Blood, I was drawn to the cheesy vampire movie campiness.
I just had to put it on and I must say, despite it being such a B movie, I really liked it. So much so that I was sad when it came to the end.
Tales From The Crypt
Tales from The Crypt is a series of small anthology horror stories introduced by the rotting corpse of the Crypt Keeper. The series was stylized as if this little guy was spinning us these horrific yarns.
But from my understanding, this is basically like Goosebumps for adults because there is a lot of swearing, gallons of blood and a bunch of naked people in Bordello of Blood.
I’m assuming the other stories are as mature in nature. I really like this idea of this being an adult Goosebumps, which makes sense as the original Tales from The Crypt comic books was one of R.L Stine’s inspirations for his Goosebumps series.
Bordello of Blood
I don’t want to spoil this movie, but it is about vampires who run a brothel led by the lovely but deadly Lilith (Angie Everhart). A private detective is hired to investigate some missing people in the area and you can see where this is going.
The film was wild and crazy and really gory. It was one of those ‘WTF am I even watching?” films, but in a good way, so I highly recommend it.
I’d dive more into the story but it would ruin it for you. But if you like campy vampire tropes, cheesy one liners, and ridiculous gore, you should give this one a watch.
