Subscriptions have been part of gaming for a long time. World of Warcraft did it. ESO did it. A lot of games did it.
When I heard Fortnite was going to release a subscription as well I was eager to see how it would work, but also nervous.
So, let’s take a look at the game’s new subscription service, The Fortnite Crew, and see if it is worth it.
Welcome To The Crew
The Fortnite Crew is a monthly subscription that costs ZAR-140. It comes with 1000 V-Bucks, a character with a backbling and pickaxe as well as that season’s Battle Pass.
Keep in mind you get a lot of things from a Battle Pass as well as a lot of V-Bucks. So, taking all of that into consideration, yes, The Fortnite Crew is worth it.
But only to players who play regularly, enjoy getting the Battle Pass and enjoy collecting characters. The Fortnite Crew is a good deal as far as subscriptions go and I’m glad I subbed to it.
It’ll be interesting to see which characters come in the coming months.
It goes without mention that characters included in the Crew are exclusive to the Crew and will never be in the item shop. This means when you see another person with that skin you know they are subbed as well.
I had a little dance off with another person wearing the Crew skin for this month while we waited for the match to start. It was quite a cute moment.
Fortnite is constantly growing and I think their new subscription is worth it for regulars. There’s really nothing bad about it.
1000 V-Bucks, a character pack, and the battlepass? For under ZAR150? That’s the biggest steal I’ve seen.
After all, they are saying subscriptions are the future…
