The Ubisoft Forward stream showed off some of the publisher’s upcoming games and built on a lot of hype. Looking back at the showcase, I can’t help but feel it was lacking though.
We saw lots more of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion as well as a teaser for Far Cry 6. But this event felt like it pulled its punches. We basically got info on stuff we already knew about and were expecting. Maybe I was expecting too much though.
Watch Dogs Legion
We got a nice look at Watch Dogs Legion, which actually made me more interested in the game. The cinematic trailer was wild and crazy and the gameplay showcase really showed the potential of the game.
As someone who didn’t really enjoy the older Watch Dogs games, this one has me eager to give the series another go and try Legion out when it launches in October.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
I’m an Assassin’s Creed fanboy. I won’t even try to hide it. I also love Vikings. So, this is a dream come true for me.
Assassin’s Creed took the spotlight during this event. The gameplay overview, as well as the thirty-minute live stream, just hyped me up for the game even more. I’m looking forward to this game when it launches in November.
Hyper Scape
Hyper Scape is Ubisoft’s attempt at the battle royale genre. I’ll admit, although it looks cool with the Twitch-based integration where viewers can dictate how matches play out, I feel the genre is over-saturated.
So, this maybe another one of those games that comes in, is popular for a while, and then fades away into its own fanbase. Which isn’t a bad thing, but I don’t see it as revolutionising the genre.

Lack of Gods and Monsters
My biggest disappointment was the lack of any news on the Breath of the Wild-like game Gods and Monsters. It was a no-show.
Ubisoft showed off a bit of their new mobile game, Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad but yet we didn’t get anything on this fantasy game based on Greek Mythology made by the team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
With rumours of a name change and leaked gameplay of a very old build of the game, I was surprised there was no mention of the title. Hopefully, we will hear from this game again later this year. All we have is an old trailer from last year.
Well, that was a brief recap of the event. Are you excited for any of these games?
