Fortnite is always up to something; it’s a norm by now. The game remains a platform for marketing and last season, Marvel teamed up with Epic Games again, which resulted in a Deadpool earnable skin. A few days ago, there was an event marking the end of this season followed by some teases of what the next season is all about…
The Event
As far as Fortnite events go, this one was a little lacklustre, in my opinion. All it featured was flashing lights and the iconic storm being pushed back. Things did get interesting when players were thrown into a first-person view in some offices with fully-voiced characters and when the purple storm suddenly turned into a huge tidal wave of water.
But other than that, it wasn’t a patch on the Mech fight at the end of Season 9. Though I have to hand it to Epic Games, they know how to build hype. For the past few weeks, there has been talk of this event as well as a countdown. They know how to play the hype train, which is probably why their game is so successful.
The Teases
Fortnite’s social media pages have been very busy with posting ambiguous pictures that give us just enough to get talking without giving away everything. After a lot of rumours, it appears that we are in fact getting an Aquaman-themed skin.
Aquaman actor, Jason Momoa shared an image of a Trident sticking out of the water in Fortnite’s iconic art style and he also tagged Fortnite in the post, however, this was only shared via a limited-time story post.
The world of Fortnite is about to change yet again and it’s always exciting to see what a new season brings. The game is always finding ways to reinvent itself and it just continues to grow as not only a game but a platform as well. The new season, Season 3, drops on the 17 June.
