Hasbro walked the floor at this year’s Toyfair with their arsenal of properties, which included Star Wars, Marvel and GI Joe. These are all great and everything, but what really got fans excited was their Ghostbusters reveals, which come just before the next film is due to be released.
The Ghostbusters franchise is an 80s icon and I can’t help but feel these figures will be grabbed by more adult collectors than kids as these are the characters the collectors grew up on. It will be interesting to see what Hasbro does with the line in future but for now, we have a lot of product shots to gawk over the initial wave.
The Ghostbusters
It makes sense that the initial wave would have the team of Ghostbusters front and centre. The likeness to the actors is exceptional and just looking at these images is hitting the me in the nostalgia in all the right ways.
Their Proton packs look really good and they come with some really nice accessories like adjustable goggles, effects and gadgets. These figures look like a lot of fun and I can already see myself taking photos of them patrolling around in the yard, while ghostly characters lurk in the background.
The Ghosts
Speaking of ghosts, we are being treated to two ghostly characters in this wave in the form of a possessed Dana Barrett as well as Gozer the Gozerian. Dana has me excited because it is a figure based off a Sigourney Weaver character and one can never have too many of those.
Gozer looks scary but I really hope Hasbro dives deeper into the ghosts in their future waves. There is so much potential with this line and it would be nice to get new monsters.
It’s safe to assume that the upcoming film will have a lot of influence in the line’s intermediate future so we will have to see how it plays out. Either way, these are exciting times for Ghostbusters fans.
