Diablo 4 Officially Revealed At BlizzCon

Blizzard has revealed the next mainline entry in the Diablo series.

Blizzard officially revealed Diablo 4 at BlizzCon 2019 with a stylish cinematic trailer, which was followed by some gameplay. The new title will serve as the next mainline entry in the franchise and will continue the story from Diablo 3 but will feature renewed combat and a more gory and grisly setting.

Many welcomed the announcement after last year’s disastrous Diablo: Immortal reveal. It was pretty much the worst kept secret of the event as the game was leaked sometime before. The announcement did not include a release date but confirmed that it will make its way to the PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and perhaps PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett too. Commenting on the release date, game director Luis Barriga stated, “A game of this scope takes time. We’re not coming out soon – not even Blizzard soon.” This means that it is possible that the title could come out in late 2021 or early 2022.

A publisher provided description for the title reads as follows: “Diablo IV takes place many years after the events of Diablo III, after millions have been slaughtered by the actions of the High Heavens and Burning Hells alike. In the vacuum of power, a legendary name resurfaces.”

As stated above, Blizzard also revealed some gameplay for the upcoming title. The publisher showed off the different classes that will be featured, which include the Barbarian, the Druid, and the Sorceress. Each has different looks, abilities, and even backgrounds.

Fan reaction to the new installment has been quite positive, with many happy that the game is going back to its roots. It has been awhile since we have seen a mainline title in the Diablo series. Diablo 3 had a rocky start but turned around and become a great game. Hopefully, Blizzard is able to ensure that its sequel lives up to expectation.
