The Last of Us Part 2 Delayed To May 2020

Naughty Dog has confirmed that The Last of Part II has been delayed.

Recent reports have confirmed that Naughty Dog has delayed The Last of Us Part 2. The game was initially set to release on 21 February 2020 but will now release on 29 May 2020.

The game’s director Neil Druckmann explained the reason for the game’s delay in a blog post on PlayStation’s site. He stated, “It was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality.” He continued, “At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team.”

It seems that the game just needs a bit of more polish before release. The delay is quite surprising given that the initial release date was revealed rather recently. Naughty Dog has stated in the past that the The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the biggest game they have ever done, thus it makes sense why it is taking so long to produce. The developer has even forgone including a multiplayer mode in order to provide a better single-player experience.

Although some will be disheartened by the news of the delay, it is expected that it will lead to a much better end product. The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on 29 May 2020 for the PlayStation 4.
