After countless rumours, Sims finally after have confirmation of a much-anticipated University expansion pack for the Sims 4. This is hot on the heels of the recent Realm of Magic expansion pack. All this comes after talk of a jam-packed 2020 schedule for the Sims 4, which will prove to be quite interesting. The Sims 4 Discover University is doing exactly what its name suggests and that is bringing the university experience to the life sim, among other things. So, let’s jump into it!
Back to School
This expansion will bring two universities to the game. The historic Britechester and the modern Foxbury Institute. Sims can explore campus on a bicycle, live in a dorm or off-campus, attend classes and spur their university on at school events and wear their school’s colours.
There seems to be a rivalry between the two campuses so it’ll be perfect for those to roleplay some classic university stories that we see in movies. Time management will be crucial. According to the game’s official sites, attending classes or blowing them off will affect grades. This is all the logistical stuff. The real fun is on the social side of things, (for me at least…)
Back to Partying
Sims is all about roleplaying to many of its gamers so it’s no surprise that this expansion seems to promote that via the social side of things. Your sim’s college life is entirely up to the player. Whether they study all night, sleep in, party all the time and play ‘juice pong’ or hideout in the library and work on those grades is all up to you.
Robotics is a huge interest to me as I’ve always enjoyed having my Sims create robots in the previous instalments. There is also a very brief mention of a secret society on their website, which piqued my interest as well. It doesn’t only stop there, players will be able to customise their young Sims’ dorms to their heart’s content.
Around the world, Sims fans are rejoicing especially since the release date is set for a November 15th release for PC and a December release for console.
