Capcom managed to make the Resident Evil franchise popular again with the release of Resident Evil 7 in 2017. The title took the series back to its survival horror roots, which is something that fans of the series had been calling for. One of the biggest highlights of the game was the terrifying encounters with the Baker family. If you ever wanted to know more about the family, you may be in luck as Capcom is releasing a Resident Evil 7 prequel.

Resident Evil 7: Walkthrough the Fear will release on 25 October, and will be a virtual reality experience. Unfortunately, it will only be available in Japan. According to Capcom, the game will take players back to Louisiana, with the player trapped in Jack’s basement and the only objective to escape.

Players interested in playing the prequel will only be able to do so at The Plaza Capcom Ikebukuro VR-X booth in Japan. Currently, there’s no word of this experience being made available anywhere else. The experience will be about 40 minutes long and requires two to four players.

This isn’t the first time that Capcom has delved into virtual reality as Resident Evil 7 was fully playable in PSVR. This is also the second Resident Evil VR experience as Biohazard Valiant Raid was released in July at the same location.

Capcom has been doing an amazing job with the Resident Evil franchise in recent years. It’s a shame that not all players will be able experience this new prequel. They still have Project Resistance to look forward to though.

What do you think of this new Resident Evil prequel?
