The Last of Us Part 2 Reveals Release Date, Confirms No Multiplayer, Two Discs, Targets Base PS4

The Last of Us Part 2 will release on 21 February 2020.

The Last of Us Part 2 is one of PlayStation’s most-anticipated exclusive titles. In recent weeks, we have received more information about the game than ever before. Developer Naughty Dog recently released a new trailer for the game revealing more about the upcoming title, and more importantly, the release date. The Last of Us Part 2 will launch on 21 February 2020 for the PlayStation 4. Naughty Dog also took the time to inform players that the game will have no multiplayer mode and will release on two discs.

This news that the game will have no multiplayer has caused some rift between players. Although the game got much of its fanfare from the main campaign, its multiplayer mode also created some die-hard fans. Naughty Dog did explain why they decided to cut multiplayer from the title in a tweet.

They stated that The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most ambitious projects they’ve ever done and that they decided to cut the online portion out of the game as the visions for both the single-player campaign and the factions multiplayer mode grew too large to be included in one title. The developer did state, however, that players will see their online ambition sometime in the future but it will not be part of The Last of Us Part 2.

Naughty Dog will also go the Red Dead Redemption 2 route by releasing the game on two discs. There’s been no clarification on why the game will release on two discs but that they are targeting the base PS4 system instead of the PlayStation 4 Pro as that is what they developed the title on. It’s amazing to know this as the game looks visually impressive. They haven’t decided on their final frame rate or screen resolution as of yet though.

With the title’s release only a few months away, this new information has made many players more excited than ever before. The Last of Us Part 2 will release on 21 February 2020 only for PS4.
