Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Is Coming To iOS Devices

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is set to release on 29 October on iOS.

Upon its release, The Witcher 3 birthed one of the most popular video game mini-games in recent years; Gwent. Thus, it wasn’t all that surprising when CD Projekt Red announced Gwent: The Witcher Card Game; a standalone title. The game has been available on consoles and PC for some time now, but will now be making its way to iOS devices, including the iPad, and iPhone on 29 October as a free-to-play game.

If you are familiar with the card game, it is highly likely that the game will have a new interface designed for mobile devices. Here’s what the announcement reads: “GWENT on iOS combines the full feature set of the PC version with controls reimagined for the touch interface. Progress and purchases are shared between iOS and PC (using GOG account), so players can easily switch platforms anytime. Note that while iOS players can still play against PC, Xbox One and PS4 opponents, progress and purchases cannot be shared between console accounts and iOS.”

In order to play this version of Gwent, players will need to own an iPhone 6S or a newer iPhone model. (This includes the recently announced iPhone 11.) With regards to Apple tablets, the game will be compatible with the iPad Mini 4, iPad 5th generation, iPad Air 2, all iPad Pro devices, and any newer available models.

This announcement is a long time coming for fans of the game and will help in bringing a host of new players. There hasn’t been word on an Android version but it cannot be far away if it has made its way to iOS.

Although it is unfortunate that console players will not be able to carry progress over to mobile, many fans are sure to welcome this announcement. Hopefully, the game is ported to Android devices in the future, and possibly even the Nintendo Switch too. iOS users can expect to play the game on 29 October.
