It was no secret that Capcom is working on a new Resident Evil game, with the publisher even stating that they will be bringing the title to the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. All that was known about the game was that it had a working title of Project Resistance. Well, Capcom just released a teaser trailer for the upcoming game, which seems to show off a multiplayer component of some sort, along with some elements clearly stuck in for fans of the series.

The new trailer doesn’t provide a lot of clues regarding what this new title is going to be but it does elude to multiplayer. The trailer shows off four new characters fighting off a hordes of zombies (even coming into contact with a Licker) while being watched by a mysterious man. The mysterious man is revealed to be Resident Evil 2’s main villain, Mr X. The trailer ends by stating that there will be more information at Tokyo Game Show.

It seems that the leak from earlier this month was true after all. The leaked screenshots of the four characters were also correct, as they are featured in the trailer. It also seems as if the game is going to be spin-off title and along with being part of the mainline series, with many hoping the game will similar to Resident Evil Outbreak.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Capcom has looked at adding online multiplayer features in the Resident Evil series. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, which was received poorly, featured a multiplayer mode.

It remains to be seen how fans will react to this decision. Capcom hasn’t had all that much luck with their multiplayer Resident Evil games (many of them are their worst performing titles). Players will just need to wait until the Tokyo Game Show to find out whether this is a game worth getting excited about.

What do you think of Project Resistance?
