Fans of the Fairy Tail manga have reason to get excited as it was recently revealed that a new video game adaptation is in the works. Koei Tecomo will be bringing Hiro Mashima’s manga to life in an upcoming JRPG title that will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch . It has been quite a while since a new Fairy Tail game has been released, though there has been quite a number of games released in the past. This will be the first time that a Fairy Tail game will be available outside of Japan.
The new title was announced with a trailer that doesn’t show all that much about the upcoming game. Gust Studios will handle development, while Koei Tecmo will publish the title. Developers have described the game as z “Magic x Guilds x RPG”, which means it will deviate from standard JRPGs.
Gust Studios may be unknown to some but they have produced around 50 games in the Atelier series, which means that the game is in capable hands. The trailer also says that Hiro Mashima will be overseeing development, which suggests that the game will probably be a faithful adaption of his manga.
The manga spans over 500 chapters, so it will be interesting to see what content they cover in the game. Though very little is currently known about the game, Gust Studios have stated that more details will be released at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. So the reveal trailer will have to hold you over until 15 September, during the special stage stream at the event. Fairy Tail will release sometime in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch
