Capcom has announced that they will reveal a new Resident Evil game next month, ahead of the Tokyo Game Show. The game is titled Project Resistance, and although Capcom hasn’t officially called it “Resident Evil”, the “RE” in “Resistance” is highlighted in red, which is a marking for the franchise. According to the game’s official website, the title is expected to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The trailer will be revealed on 9 September on their YouTube channel. The publisher also stated that they will be showing off some gameplay at its booth at the Tokyo Game Show later this year. Although information is limited, some images have been leaked online. The visuals seem to suggest that the game will be multiplayer-based, and show off completely new characters, which some have suggested could indicate that the title will be a spinoff.

It is widely-known that Capcom has been working on a new Resident Evil game. Earlier this month, they invited players in their Ambassador program to test the game. There has been mass speculation regarding the contents of the project, with some fans suggesting another Resident Evil remake and others stating that it will be a full-blown new entry into the franchise. Although many fans are hoping for a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remake, some believe that it wouldn’t make sense since the RE 2 Remake was released earlier this year.
Some fans are also ardently hoping that the multiplayer rumours aren’t true as the franchise’s previous foray into the area wasn’t well-received. Capcom’s recent Resident Evil games has only just put them back in the good graces of fans, so many are excited about the future of the franchise again but are really hoping that they don’t mess it up. Whether or not Project Resistance is a game that will live up to expectation remains to be seen.
