When it comes to superhero games, there are a few that stand above the rest. Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man is one such game, and it seems that this is being recognised with the title receiving a Game of the Year edition. Although the upcoming package was leaked last week via an Amazon listing and a Taiwan ratings board leak, Insomniac Games has now officially confirmed the news.
Insomniac Games Community Director James Stevenson took to the PlayStation Blog to reveal the new edition, stating “We’re honored to mark the one-year anniversary of the game with this new Game of the Year Edition.” Many may not find it surprising that the game has gotten a Game of the Year edition release as it was one of the biggest games of 2018.
The base game was followed by three DLC releases: The Heist, Turf Wars, and Silver Lining, which feature characters like Black Cat, Hammerhead, Silver Sable, and Screwball. These will be included in the Game of the Year edition via a voucher, which some fans may find a little disappointing.
Marvel’s Spider-Man has sold over 13 million copies in less than a year, which is no small feat considering its only available on one console, and has been hailed as one of the best superhero games in recent years.
This will be Insomniac Games first release since the studio’s acquisition by Sony. If you haven’t already picked the game, you may really want to look into getting this version, which is available right now. (The game is really good.)
