No Man’s Sky Beyond Getting PS4 Physical Release

A physical No Man’s Sky release for PS4 featuring all previously released DLC will be available on 10 September.

When No Man’s Sky launched in 2016, it wasn’t exactly a crowd-pleaser. The game is widely-known as one of the most over-hyped games of all-time. Developer Hello Games promised to make it better over time, and after six major updates, the game has become one of the most intriguing titles in recent years. Its latest major update, Beyond, brought a number of  changes and goodies, including VR support. Now, Hello Games is looking to release a physical version of the Beyond update for PS4. This version will include all previously released updates for the game, and is scheduled to hit shelves on 10 September.

Hello Games founder Sean Murray took to the PlayStation Blog to talk about what the physical release of No Man’s Sky represented three years ago. “Those discs represented the first step along an amazing three-year journey that we and the No Man’s Sky community have been on together.” He continued “It’s been a roller-coaster, but six major free updates later and we arrived at Beyond.”

Beyond is one of their biggest updates to date. It brings many new features to the game, and expands on the multiplayer component of the game in a big way. It also seems that Hello Games is treating the Beyond and future updates of the game as a No Man’s Sky 2.0. “Beyond is our attempt to bring all of the strands of No Man’s Sky into a more cohesive whole and to fill in the details,” Murray said.

This is probably the reason they decided to re-release the game on PS4 as it will begin a new chapter for No Man’s Sky. As stated before, this version will include all previously released updates for the game, including Beyond. Though the physical version of Beyond will only be available on PS4 for the moment, the update is still available for download on PC and Xbox One.

It is truly inspiring to see No Man’s Sky slowly becoming the game that Hello Games promised when it was released in 2016. This new physical version is Hello Games attempting to close the negative chapter in No Man’s Sky history and introduce a new one.
