Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a love letter to fans of the Dragon Ball anime and the manga that will provide fans with exciting new stories and characters that they’ve never seen before. While announcing that the game will include both the Namek and Cell saga, publisher Bandai Namco also introduced a new character that will be featured in the game. The new character is a female named Bonyu who is a former member of the Ginyu Force.

The character was leaked a few weeks ago in an issue of Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine. But Bandai Namco finally revealed what the character will look like on their official Twitter account (which can be seen below.) The character is said to be designed by Akira Toriyama. This isn’t the first time he has designed a new character for a game (as he designed Android 21 for Dragon Ball FighterZ.)

Bonyu seems to be from the same planet as fellow Ginyu Force member, Jeice. She also apparently left the Ginyu Force because she didn’t like the poses they did. Bonyu continues the tradition of Dragon Ball’s weird naming scheme. Since all the Ginyu Force’s members were named after dairy products, Bonyu’s name is the Japanese word for breast milk.

This news is more evidence of the game’s seemingly main appealing factor; new original stories that will flesh out the original canon of the series. The post also seems to indicate the this story will focus on the Ginyu Force and will perhaps explain how they came to be and how Bonyu left the group.

With each new detail we learn about the game, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot becomes more and more interesting to fans. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is set to release sometime in 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
