Many fans didn’t believe it when Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy 8 will be getting remastered during E3 2019. The game has always been skipped when it comes to remasters as Square Enix famously lost the source code for the game. But now, it seems that players can look forward to playing the game on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and/or PC on 3 September.
Commenting on the upcoming title, Square Enix’s official press release stated that the remaster will feature “a new visual refresh” that “brings the game’s beloved story to modern platforms.” This new visual improvement is probably the most important part of the update, as Final Fantasy 8 hasn’t aged all too well, with its original graphics making the characters look very blocky.
Square also revealed that they will be adding new some new features to the game, which both returning and new players will enjoy. There will be a “No Encounter” feature, which will allow players to enjoy only the story event battles, a Battle Assist option to always have maxed out HP, and ATB with Limit Breaks available at any time.
There will also be 3x Speed Boost feature, which will allow players to rush through the game at three times the speed. The Steam version of the game will feature even more additional functions such as, All Items, All Abilities, Max Gil, GF Max, Max Magic, All Limit Breaks, and All Cards.
These new features will make the game easier for those who may struggle with older RPGs, especially those who have never played the game. Many can’t wait to revisit or at least see what all the hype surrounding Final Fantasy 8 is about.
