During Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong 2019, Bandai Namco finally gave fans a more in-depth look at the upcoming RPG, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. At the event, they revealed some new gameplay footage showing off everyone’s favourite green fighter, Piccolo. This is one of the three recently announced characters that will be playable in the game besides Goku. The other characters that have been announced as playable are Gohan and Vegeta.
Bandai Namco didn’t show us a flashy trailer but instead gave us 10 minutes of Piccolo footage. This was the first time we were given footage of the game that didn’t include Goku. The footage shows off conversations, graphics, and combat for Piccolo. It also shows off Chiaotzu and Tien as Piccolo fights off both characters in the video.
The combat seems very similar to that of Dragon Ball Xenoverse, with dashes, charges, and mid-air combat. The highlight of the video is when Piccolo faces off with the Gohan’s Great Ape form. The video ends with Piccolo blowing up the moon as seen in the anime.
This gameplay footage also shows us a peek of previously announced playable characters in the game. While Chiaotzu and Tien are shown in the video, they will only be available as support characters. While this footage shows off the training that Gohan and Piccolo go through to prepare for the Sayians’ arrival. Although we don’t know to what capacity the rest of the characters will be playable, it could be in new canon stories, according to Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama.
We still don’t know the exact number of playable characters that will be in the game but we will probably get more reveals soon. The game still has no official release date, but you can expect Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot sometime in 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
