It is quite hard to believe that it has been almost ten years since the original Plants vs Zombie game was released. Well, it’s once again time to get ready to defend your lawn against a wave of undead zombies, as EA and PopCap Games have announced that Plant vs Zombies 3 is in development (or as they put it “under construction.”)
The announcement has come with an interesting twist. This new title, which will be free-to-play, is currently available in a pre-alpha mode for a limited number of players. This means that it’s currently on the Google Play Store but it may already be unavailable if it has reached its download limit. If you were unable to download the game, PopCap recommends trying to download it again at a different time.

It was assumed that the studio was working on new title but many thought it was Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 3; a sequel to their spinoff series, which turned the tower defense game into a third person shooter. Although the game will be free-to-play, it will be monetised.
Plants vs Zombies 2 was heavily criticised for its heavy use of monetisation compared to the first game. Though the pre-alpha won’t be monetised, PopCap makes no promises that there won’t be any microtransactions in the full game. Only time will tell if they will choose to add microtransactions.
As for when the game will officially launch, PopCap Games has not given any hints to a release window. The game is also currently slated to release only on Android devices. If you’re a fan and make use of an Android device, be sure to check it out if you can,
