We’ve had screenshots, rumours, photos and casting news but we are now able to see the upcoming The Witcher series in action as Netflix has finally dropped a trailer. The trailer was revealed during their SDCC panel at Comic-Con and shows off various characters (including Henry Cavill as Geralt) and locations.
Speaking at the SDCC panel, Cavill elaborated on how Geralt will behave in the show. “Geralt has a dichotomy of being very hard on the exterior because that’s how he thinks the world is, but deep, deep down there’s this man who has a belief of what the world can be.” This is just another confirmation that the show won’t be following the games but instead adapting the novels of the same name.
The trailer is quite action-packed; it shows us a glimpse of what we can expect from the show. It has given fans a good look at how Geralt (who will be over 100 years old), politics and Ciri and Yennefer’s stories will be approached and has truly confirmed that it will be a very “adult” show.
Show-runners have also confirmed that the first season won’t really feature a villain as they will be exploring all the shades of grey featured in the novel series’ narrative. Although we don’t have an official release date for the series, we do know that it will be sometime this year.
With all the screenshots, information and the trailer, fans are hotly-anticipating the release of the new series. Hopefully, it proves to be a success for Netflix.
