The brick-breaking battle royale game Tetris 99 will be getting a new mode made for offline play. The game has made a name for itself on the Nintendo Switch due to its unique twist on the battle royale genre. Players test their Tetris skills against 100 other players as they aim to become the sole-remaining survivor on the board. The game previously only offered a single-player offline experience but now it seems that there is an upcoming offline mode for two players.

The new DLC was recently spotted on the Australian portal of Nintendo’s site and is expected to release sometime before the end of the year. There wasn’t any specifics of the DLC on the page but there was a note from the team that they are planning to add a new mode that will allow you to play the game with your family and friends. This DLC will be part of the already existing Big Block DLC.

This isn’t the first offline offering the game has received. The Big Block DLC added two modes to the game. This included the original classic Marathon mode, which allowed players to battle bots in a battle royale mode.

Right now, players have an upcoming Splatoon crossover to look forward to, which will celebrate the fifth Maximus Cup between 12 and 15 July. During the event, players will get access to a special Tetris 99 Splatoon theme and can earn 100 Nintendo points.

Tetris 99 is currently free-to-play as long as you have a subscription to Nintendo’s online service, although its DLC offers players offline play in a single-player capacity. Perhaps, this new mode will breathe some extra life into the game.

Are you excited that a two-player mode is coming to Tetris 99?
