Last week, Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled made its debut. The remake of the PlayStation classic launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, and it seems that both critics and gamers as a whole are loving the game. This has translated into some big sales for the title. So big, in fact, the title has become one of the most successful launches of 2019.
The game topped UK sales charts as the best-selling game in the region last week and is also the second highest-selling game in the franchise, behind only the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The kart racing game managed to sell more than Mortal Kombat 11, Devil May Cry 5, Rage 2, The Division 2 and Anthem in its launch week, which is pretty impressive for a remake of a 20-year old kart racing game. The game was also the third biggest release in the UK of 2019 so far, behind only Resident Evil 2 and Days Gone.
Crash Team Racing also managed to beat its racing rival Team Sonic Racing with four times the amount of copies sold in a week. As for which platform sold the best, the PS4 came out on top with 66% of the title’s sales deriving from the platform. Below is a full list of the month’s top ten sellers:
- Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled
- FIFA 19
- Forza Horizon 4
- Days Gone
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Battlefield 5
- Grand Theft Auto 5
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
It seems that Crash Bandicoot has experienced the revival fans hoped for. With numbers like these, Activision may just churn out another Crash Bandicoot game to appease fans. For now though, let’s enjoy the Bandicoot and all its glory.
