Nintendo had its annual E3 Direct this week, and it has had fans talking non-stop. The conference was stock full of games and announcements. Here’s are some of the biggest highlights from the event:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Sequel Is In Development
Nintendo ended off its direct with one of the most surprising announcements of the entire event, showing a teaser trailer for a game with short statement saying “The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now in development.” There has been no information on a release date or title though.
Dragon Quest Character And Banjo-Kazooie Will Be Coming To Smash Ultimate
Nintendo made good on their promise to announce more characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. A Dragon Quest character will be coming soon, while Banjo-Kazooie will be releasing later this year.
Dragon Quest XI Definitive Edition Release Date Announced
Nintendo showed off a new trailer for the definitive edition of Dragon Quest XI for the Switch. Nintendo confirmed that the game will release on 27 September.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 Gameplay Revealed
Nintendo gave us a look at gameplay for the upcoming Luigi’s Mansion 3. They also revealed both local and online co-op game modes, including a mode called “ScareScraper” The game will be available sometime in 2019.
No More Heroes 3 Announced For 2020
Another shocking announcement came when No More Heroes 3 was revealed. It seems that Travis Touchdown is the last hero around and he is equipped an armored suit and a brand new Katana. The game seems to retain the franchise signature humor and will release sometime in 2020.
Daemon X Machina Gets A Release Date And New Trailer
Platinum Games new mech RPG game Daemon X Machina showed off some new story and gameplay elements. The game will be released on 13 September for the Nintendo Switch.
Trials of Mana Leaves Japan And A Collection of Mana Game Is Coming
A remake of Trials of Mana is coming to the Switch in early 2020. It will be the first time that the game will be available outside of Japan.
Nintendo also announced a Collection of Mana, which is collection of the original Mana games, including Trials of Mana 3. The collection is available today in the Nintendo e-Shop.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Is Coming In September
Nintendo finally showed off some gameplay for Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. The trailer showed off boss fights, fishing, and shopping. There’s also a new dungeon-building mode where you can make and play your own dungeons to earn rewards. The game will release on 20 September 2019.
A Panzer Dagoon Remake Announced For The Switch
Panzer Dagoon is a remake of the classic Sega on-rails shooter game for the Nintendo Switch. The game was originally released for the Sega Saturn in 1995. The remaster is being developed by Forever Entertainment’s Megapixel Studio.
New Contra Game Is Coming To The Switch Alongside A Contra Collection
The Contra franchise returns with Contra Rogue Corps. The game will be a third-person, behind the shoulder shooter and seems to have elements of top-down and 2-D perspectives.
You can play the game solo or with friends as it will feature online and local multiplayer. Alongside this reveal, Nintendo also announced a Contra Anniversary Collection. The Contra Anniversary Collection will bundle 10 classic Contra games and is available today on the Nintendo e-Shop.
The Witcher 3 Is Coming To Switch
All the leaks and rumours were confirmed to be true. Nintendo announced the most celebrated RPG of all time The Witcher 3 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime this year. The game will include all the DLC expansions too.
Animal Crossing is Delayed But Will Arrive in March 2020
One of Nintendo’s most anticipated game for E3 was Animal Crossing. We finally got to see the game in action. It seems to be taking an island approach. The game is officially called Animal Crossing: New Horizons and will launch on 20 March 2020.
New Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Games Announced
The newest entry in the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games will be celebrating the 2020 Games in Tokyo, Japan. It will feature a mix of Olympic Games and characters from their respective universes. The game will launch sometime this November.
Ports, Ports And Ports
Nintendo announced a bunch of ports coming to the Switch in a sizzle reel. Highlights include: Spyro Reignited Trilogy (coming 3 September), Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein: Youngblood (26 July), Dead by Daylight (24 September), Just Dance 2020 (5 November), Dauntless (late 2019), Ni No Kuni Remaster (20 September), Alien Isolation (late 2019) and many more.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Shows Off More Characters
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 showed off more of its roster of characters and gave us some light on the story of the game. It will release on 19 July and they also announced that it will be getting DLC themed around various groups such as the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Marvel Knights.
