There have been countless rumours about Fable 4 being in development for years now, but a recent leak may be the most concrete evidence of the game’s existence so far. The leak comes from Microsoft’s own Mixer streaming service, which gives it more validity as it comes from the official database of games for the service. When searching for Fable in the database, the game pops up as a result.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the Fable 4 rumours, they flared up again rather recently. Last year, it was suggested that Playground Games (the development team behind Forza Horizon) was working on Fable 4. The leak didn’t really mean anything until Phil Spencer confirmed that Playground Games were indeed working on an open-world RPG. The game may be at E3 but it could also be slated for the next-gen Xbox console as the leak is pointing towards. But, again, these are just rumours.

Fans have been waiting for the next installment in the Fable series for more than 10 years now. The series seemed dead when original developers Lionhead Studios closed its doors in 2016. The shutdown also saw the end of Fable Legends, which was a free-to-play, multiplayer version of the classic game. Though that wasn’t the end of the franchise as in 2018, a free-to-play card game based on the RPG series called Fable Fortune was released. The game didn’t gather much traction though.
Many believe that Microsoft still cares for the Fable franchise and for the huge fanbase it has garnered over the years. Microsoft is looking to steal the show this year as they are one of two members of the “big three” holding a press conference. One definite way to do this is to reveal a new entry in the Fable franchise.
Do you think Fable 4 will be at E3 2019 or is it just another dream?
