Far Cry 5 released on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2018 and was met with average reviews and some controversy. However, this did not slow down the game’s sales numbers. During a recent earnings call, Ubisoft revealed that Far Cry 5 is its best-selling game this generation. It has sold more copies than Rainbow Six Siege, Watch Dogs or any of the recent Assassin’s Creed games.
It is unclear how many copies the game has sold as Ubisoft hasn’t revealed this information but it’s fair to say that it probably ranges in the millions. Far Cry may be a big brand for Ubisoft but it is certainly not thought to be the publisher’s biggest franchise. However, with this announcement, Ubisoft also revealed that both Rainbow Six Siege and The Division 2 are still performing very well in terms of sales.

Rainbow Six Siege has thus far brought in a whopping $1.12 billion for the publisher. This figure combines sales, season passes and in-game purchases. The Division 2, however, had big launch on PC even though it snubbed Steam for the Epic Games Store, and also managed to sell ten times better on the publisher’s U-Play service than its predecessor. Pre-orders on U-Play were also six times higher than The Division 1. However, console ports of the game did not meet expected sales numbers with physical launch numbers dropping 20% compared to that of the first game.
This has shown that Ubisoft is raking in the money with loads of different games. There is more on the way as Ubisoft is planning to release four AAA gaming titles before April 2020. One such title was recently revealed to be Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. We can’t wait to find out what the other may be.
