Take-Two Interactive – parent company of 2K, Rockstar Games and Private Division – recently shared with its investors what it has planned for the current fiscal year in an earnings call. During this call, it may have released some information about a new BioShock game. It has been suggested that the new installment may be due to be released in 2019 or 2020.
Take-Two Interactive has revealed that they will be releasing Kerbal Space Program DLC, NBA 2K 2020, Borderlands 3, The Outer Worlds and Ancestors: Humankind Odyssey within the current fiscal year. That’s not all though; the publisher also stated that some unannounced games will also be released during the same period with no news on what they are. The big question that has now being raised is: What are these games?
Though Take-Two hasn’t confirmed anything about this rumor, they have stated they will continue the series despite developer Irrational Games being downsized and rebranded Ghost Story Games. 2K also said that they have moved the series over to 2K Marlin to continue development. Last time there were any rumors about the game, it was that 2K formed a “top-secret studio” to work on the new BioShock game and that it is scheduled to release in 2020.
The last entry in the acclaimed series was 2013’s BioShock Infinite. Many fans were hoping for further entries in the series but they have yet to materialise. With new rumors surfacing, many hope that there may be an announcement soon. Take all of this with a grain of salt as none of it has been confirmed.
