During PlayStation’s State of Play last week, there was a surprise as a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake was debuted. The trailer was a joy for fans as there has been no word on the game in years. Square Enix also confirmed that the game will be at this year’s E3 and re-confirmed that the game will be released in an episodic format. However, there is still no word of a release date or even a release window. Though with the hope of E3 around the corner, many fans hope that an announcement may happen soon but many are doubtful.
Rumours that the game may be coming soon were reignited recently, after a Square Enix earnings call last week. During the call, the publisher revealed multiple titles they will be releasing in the next fiscal year. This runs from April 2019 to March 2020. Most of these titles may be mobile releases and we already know what some of them are. Some titles releasing this year include Babylon’s Fall, Battalion 1944 and Romancing SaGa 3. While exciting, none of these titles have the brand power that Final Fantasy does, which has left room for some speculation.

The rumor may be thin but there is some truth behind these claims. A while ago rumors surfaced that the Final Fantasy VII Remake would be released in 2020. With the recent trailer and the game’s sudden reappearance, Square Enix may be gearing up for a big announcement. Though this is all speculation, many facts do point to this.
However, this isn’t the only AAA title the publisher has in development with no date. The Avengers Project is another hotly anticipated project the public has heard little about. This could mean that one of the two games may release before May 2020. With very little to go on, it seems as if we will have to wait and see if either of these two games are in the pipeline for the next year.
