During PlayStation’s State of Play yesterday, Sony revealed an entirely new IP. What at first looked like a generic military shooter, slowly revealed the Predator overlooking the soldiers. No gameplay was shown and a date of 2020 was revealed. The game was titled Predator: Hunting Grounds.
Predator: Hunting Grounds releases in 2020 on PlayStation. It will be an asymmetric, cooperative/competitive multiplayer game developed by Illfonic. Illfonic is the studio who made the competitive multiplayer game Friday the 13th: The Game. The crowdfunded game has become a small success and garnered a following. The studio was going to keep supporting the game but eventually had to stop due to a lawsuit against the licensor.

Illfonic has now partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment and 20th Century Fox to help bring this game to the PS4. According to Illfonic, the game will consist of a group of players who will control a fire team with conventional weapons. Another player will assume the role of the Predator and will be able to use its Plasma caster and cloaking. The fire team will be tasked with shooting bad guys and recovering loot as the Predator will close in and ambush their prey.
It sounds promising and with Illfonic having previous experience with this genre, it can be a huge hit. You can watch the State of Play here.
