An announcement has been made by E3 on Twitter suggesting the revelation of a new Call of Duty game will take place at the famous gaming conference. Infinity Ward, one of the three video game developers in charge of the Call of Duty franchise, will be attending the E3 Coliseum event for a panel discussion. The developer is also slated to produce the next instalment in the franchise.
With no certainty as to which story arc the new Call of Duty game will follow; the most popular opinion amongst fans suggests that a new title will be an addition to Modern Warfare series. Some speculators have suggested that the new title will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 as the title based on the previous information by Infinity Ward
Call of Duty announcements have been consistent over the past years with an initial reveal usually surfacing around April and May, followed by an official announcement at E3 and with the release being closer to the end of the year. This year’s announcement might have a different tone to it as Sony will not be attending E3.;This has led many to speculate that this may also be due to the exclusivity deal between Call of Duty and Sony being reduced from one month to seven days.
Activision Blizzard has stated that fans can expect ‘game-changing experiences’ from the 2019 Call of Duty release. Currently, no footage of the actual gameplay has been revealed yet; leaving fans in stark anticipation of any news.
Some rumours have suggested that the new title won’t feature a Battle Royale game mode with others adding that the campaign would be a remaster of that included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was the first title in the series to be released sans a campaign and the backlash against this fact was noted.
With another year, comes another Call of Duty. While it is currently unclear as to what the title will be, there is no denying that there are many fans waiting to find out. Perhaps, this year will see a return to the beloved Modern Warfare franchise?
